I know the immediate response is going to be "don't bother with warped axe eyes" but hey, they're cheap! I always happen to see more double bit's warped than single bits, probably because people use them as levers, anyways. I picked up a couple of double bits, both with warped eyes. One really bad, one not so bad but the top of the eye is buggered so it's gonna get ground out and reshaped. Both of them are in need of obvious restoration but...y'know.

Anyways, what do you recommend for fixing warped axe eyes, realigning bits on DB's etc. Working around it with a handle? Applying low heat do the eye and working it back to shape? Or is there a way you can do it cold, without having to worry about the temper.

I'm sure there are other people on here wondering the same thing.

Yeah- I've got a '27 Sager in beautiful shape, but the eye's warped. My plan is to use an oxyacetylene torch to heat while wrapping the bits with ice water rags, then beat/pry/cajole the eye back to shape.

Making a couple drifts is on my to do list. For both DBL bits and cruisers. My plan is much the same as Axe Masters. I think not all will require heat.
