This is a little trick I pick up building furniture. If you work a lot with antler or bone save some of the fine drill dust and mix with super glue(i use it because it is quick setting) and use it to patch small drill throughs and such. I recently used it to patch an antler bowl in a ceremonial pipe and it did a very good job.

I hope the cerimonial pipe is not being used. since Superglue is a "cyano"acrylate it is not a good choice if it is inside the bowl itself. Inhaleing burning superglue fumes could be very harmful.

good tip.
Ive done that before but with the grinding dust, the drilling dust would be better.
thanks

I do this basically every time I glue anything made of wood. Or bone. Heck, most anything, really.
Sure, your glue line may only be .001" and practically invisible... but why have a .001" line that's the wrong color, when you could easily have a .001" line that's that same color as what's being glued (whether that's walnut-colored, bone-colored, red micarta-colored, or what-have-you)?

Important technique!
