fixing injured blade

this is one blade that i was carrying
hollow ground now bent edge :mad:
was using to baton some kindling
any ideas??

Try a steel on it first, a smooth steel if possible.

I'm going ot move this from General Knife Discussion to Maintenance ...
 
Use hatchets and axes to baton instead? They tend to work quite a bit better for this sort of thing.
 
I don't see how a properly het treated knife would bend like that without cracking or chipping.

Cannot see the amount of bent, but for me there's nothing can be done
except for what Mahoney said in the previous post.
 
ya will try to press back but not going to carry a hollow grind anymore
first time i have had this happen with all the knives i have had over the years
but thinking back most of them have been flat ground
figure i would change my edc to a puukko style knife
for the types of things i do at times

this blade was a 440c steel blank i had gotten at jantz
modified the handle to fit
