Hello bf people.
My boss just gave me a boker tree 4000 lock back. It has scale separation at both ends.
I plan on using epoxy to get scales back on. But what do I do about the small gaps?
Thanks

I don't think you will be able to suck that stag all the way back into the liners. For that , I would just probably fill those gaps with the epoxy to stabilize it.

That's what I was thinking too.
Thanks

You may be able to close the gaps some if you clamp it, just make sure your epoxy is strong, otherwise the stag will pull back off. Try to clean in the gaps so there is no dirt or grime in there, otherwise the epoxy won't hold well.

Well
I put my fingernail in the gap and the scale fell off. So I sandpapered the brass and backside of stag.

Great knife, or it will be when it's done. Now may I say : bahahaha! Sorry that's rude, but it almost worked in your favor, to be able to access the needed areas. Just not the way one might hope. Post a pic of this lovely when your done ;)
Thanks, Neal

Lol
Thanks

Here what it looks like now.
I also think I'm gonna take off the other scale, clean it and reinstall it.

for me i would use a dremmel tool or a small drill to make holes in the back of the handle slabs. 2 things will be achieved, 1, epoxy will have holes to fill acting like a foundation for support, 2nd it will create dust that will allow you to mix with epoxy to fill the voids in the liners matching the the horn, don't forget to rough up the brass also for better adhesion.
thanks for listening,Troy

It's a shame that the stag wasn't pinned to the liners to begin with. However, it will be easier to work with as it is off now. Be sure to share an "after" pic once you are done.
