Fixing some edge rolls on NMFBM LE (Full convex grind)

I had my newly acquired NMFBM LE out and about for the last couple days. Holy hell is this thing a monster! I build a shelter and prepped firewood with it and it was almost effortless. Its like the blade did all the work!

Anyway, in the process I ended up slightly rolling the edge in a few spots. Nothing significant, but I would like to fix that up asap. Keeping in mind that it is convex, how would you go about getting these rolls out without removing any metal? Can I use a standard butchers steel on convex edges?

Thanks a bunch!

You can use a butchers steel or ceramic rod to pull the steel back into place.
It works best if you go in the reverse direction compared to useing the steel on a kitchen knife, to lift the INFI back into place

It's hard to say because there are many kinds of butchers steels.
A good quality one will work fine.
I prefer the ceramic rod.....

ive used both to repair rolls.

found them to be about the same, except my steel is about twice as long, so is a little easier to work with.

A little off topic but no need to start a new thread.

For Steelnut: I bought this NMFBM LE with a Kydex sheath made by you included by the previous owner. I really like the design, but cant use it because it puts some NASTY-ASS scratches on the blade everytime I put it in the sheath. On one side its right down the middle of the blade, and on the other theres one right near the edge (like a millimeter away) and one near the spine. These scratches run down the entire length of the blade and are deep and noticeable enough that it has rendered the sheath useless. Is there that much of a difference between the standard model and the LE that it could just be the blade not fitting correctly?

Is there an easy way to go about fixing this?

Thanks

The LE is thicker than the CG that the sheath was made on,
I doubt it can be made to fit, but I will trade it in for one made on my LE.
Send me a PM or email:thumbup:

Also, if you don't want to send it, you could wash out the grit and try it with a little oil on the blade...
kydex does not scratch, it's debris in the sheath that does it.

When you say wash it, like just running water through it?

And just any blade oil?

Thanks

The ceramic rod is great because you can use it to hone, refresh edge by removing a little metal and to repair like a smooth steel. More multi use than a steel.

Take of the drop leg attachment and wash the sheath with warm water and dish soap.
Whatever grit is in there is probably mashed down good by now.
try the hose to get some pressure if it is not frozen:cool::cool:

Any oil like 3 in 1 oil is good, or honig/sharpenig oil.. militech...
I have heard of people using silicone spray also.

if that does not work, send her back for a bigger pair of pants:thumbup:
