German Leverlock- PUP Springer????'s

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I found an old german leverlock and wanted to know if anyone has seen one like this before. Blade is 3.5-4inches bottom of knife looks to be silver with the word SPRINGER on it. At the base of the blade it reads PUP and directly under that says the word Germany.

Found it at a storage rental shed a bit rusty on the parking lot, cleaned and polished right up and depressed lever mechanism to release blade.
Blade does not fully fly open to lock position it comes sometime 3/4 of a way out or 1/2 out but not all the way.

Sometimes if you flick your wrist in a swooping fashion hard enough to break a coconut it will lock out when you hit the button.

Is there anyway to fix this knife and can anyone tell me about these types of knives. If so how much would it cost to put this baby back into sweet action.
Blade grade is not imprinted on it but it sharpens real easy and stays shaving sharp for a long time.

Thanks

Your knife is a German leverlock. Probably imported between 1950-1958. Without pictures I can't tell you more.
Spray it out liberally with WD 40. Keep working the blade fully open with your hands. Dry the WD 40 completely off, and apply a small dab of automotive grease to the tang area of the blade. You have to depress the lever quick, hard, and fully for these knives to work properly.

If I soak it overnight will that work? Also and just work it like you said with auto grease. I have sprayed WD40 in it and rust colored stains the paper towel after I work it back and forth.
Thanks.

Theres no way to take it apart to clean it real good inside so will try like you said. :)
