Fixing vertical play in a lockback

I have a Dragonfly 2 which I love, but it always had a bit of vertical blade play from the very beginning.

I think if I take apart the knife and put a tiny layer of a substance between the tang of the blade and the lock bar, I could fix it. Has anyone here tried putting some sort of durable coating or deposit on a lock bar face to fix vertical blade play?

When you push down on the end of the lockbar while wiggling the blade up and down does that fix the play? Because if that's the case. Gradual wear should at som point solve your problem.

My Endura had very mild up and down play when I first got it and that's gone now.

According to spyderco slight vertical play is "within tolerances" and cannot be readily fixed. If the facory can't fix it...

I think vertical play is inherent in the lockback design. If it does not affect use of the knife, I wouldn't worry about it.
