So guys I'm looking for a fixed blade, here are some of the ones I like;
Zero Tolerance 0100
RAT Cutlery RC-4/RC-6
FallKniven A1
ColdSteel Recon Scout VG-1 San Mai
Chris Reeve Pacific
I will also consider a used busse/swamp rat.

The knife will be used for batoning, chopping small trees, preparing food, cutting rope, self defense, basically for wilderness survival. I'm willing to take suggestions on other knives also.
For help with suggestions I would like to knife to have/be,
*Blade length of at least 5 1/2"
*$300 or less

Thanks in advance guys.

I'd recommend you also consider the BRKT Rogue and Canadian Camp knives. Either will more than ably meet all your requirements and is well within your price range.

50-60 bucks with the kydex sheath and zytel handle (leather absorbs water), 7 inch 1095 blade. the blade shape is a personal favorite of mine though.

out of your choices, I dont know. SS becomes brittle past a certain length and so I always prefer 1095 (or 9260) for fixed blades. Just me though.

Drop the Cold Steel, and you've got a great list. All of those will serve you well.

I dunno 'bout that. I've had the original CS Recon Scout since it came out. It has done everything, and done it well. Sharp like there's no tomorrow, easy to keep that way. The kraton is still in almost perfect shape. The sheath is a piece of crap, but that's easy to fix. That said, I haven't bothered yet, in what, 17 years or so, and it still works.
I don't know much about the new ones, but the design is sound. Ugly though.

Looks like this will be my choice, thanks a lot man.
Seems to be just what I need, awesome.

You'll love it! (And you'll be able to say you own a Busse!)

I have one with the Desert Sage blade coating and magnum tan Micarta handles. Sweet and TOUGH.

Stay sharp,
