did you know
if your gauge says 32 inches of vacuum when you stabilize or at any other time.., your gauge is messed up.
32 inches of vacuum can not be obtained here on earth.. :D

Well Dan, under normal conditions, this would hold very true. A Standard Atmosphere would give you a vacuum reading of 29.9213 in.Hg with the vacuum at absolutely no air...
There is another way your gage could be reading 32 in.Hg... Someone pressurized the room to 2.0787 in.Hg above normal (about 1 PSI)...I've actually seen this to a small degree in a positive airflow room.
Not a real likely situation, huh?
Your gage is off. Fix it.

Hey!!! Since we are on vacuum. I have been using the Foodsaver attachment for the mason jars to pull a vacuum up to 27" in a 2 quart jar. I found this the easiest way of doing it. I tried other chambers with ball valves and etc.
What do you guys use????

not going to happen in my shop,, unless I'm eating HT relish, toot and set in on fire, that may cause a rise in internal shop pressure to 2 pounds or so :D
my Gauge is right I just remembered some one here some time ago talking about they were pulling 32 inches in their out-fit .. :)

yes under the power of a unit on it's own..I should have said :D
that is an interesting thought though.. thought it won't help me using minwax the acetone it seems to boil way before that..

IG I use the vac pump René pointed me to on ebay a few years ago.. :)
