I have a FK2 knife I cannot believe the difference in regular CPM 3V versus the Delta heat treatment on the CPM 3B that Nathan has done. i’ve heard people say they can’t tell the difference. I have no idea how they cannot tell the difference I own a lot of CPM 3V knives, including bark River and including other really well named brands and there is a night and day difference in hard use which equates to better edge retention in hard use. Nathan, I’m so thankful that you took the time to actually dial in a steel that no one thought possible that actually use your knives and not just play with them. Thank you.

The pre-delta is pretty alright, too.

thank you for the replies.. you guys have some really nice knives! I’m glad to be part of this Delta 3V club. I definitely will try some of the tweaked version. I think that’s the next one. I will try to get my hands on. I’m not a very good sharpener actually to be honest with you. I’ve always used non-free hand methods. So my FK2 was still sharp, but I wanted to go ahead and sharp this Delta 3V and see what it’s about because I’ve heard different things. Some people say it’s great. Some people say it’s not that easy. I think more or less I took my time went slow and took a 400 grit aluminum oxide stone put a little oil on it and basically made sure I followed videos that I’ve watched and it took probably 5 to 10 minutes for me to feel comfortable with putting a little pressure on it after I knew I had the angle and felt like I could hold it in that position. I hit it about 15 passes on each side and let me tell you the shaves hair and it has a bite to it. I used a belt to touch up afterwards. I am impressed with Delta 3V compared to my other CPM 3V knives it has a different sound to it a different feel. That’s how you know that he treatment is no joke. Thanks guys for sharing with me. I appreciate that a lot. Respectfully, JT.
