If the "FL" stamp was introduced in 1983, has it supplanted use of the "FLA" stamp on knives made since then? Weren't some older knives marked with a "FL" stamp?

I have knives marked both ways and am now confused as to which is older.

Thank you.

Hi Wild Bill 1896, Rhett is the expert, but I remember this subject matter from before. The stamp was used intermittently so often, it really doesn't mean anything of real importance anymore. All the best, Sam:)

Remember guys and gals, this discussion applies only to stainless Randall knives. The following information was provided by Randall shop foreman, Scott Maynard.

The FLA Randall stamp is being used today on stainless Randall blades and has been used intermittenly all the time for some knives since the 1984 "FL" stamp mistake.

On the small models with stainless blades, i.e; Models 8, 21, 24, 26 and the other small models that I am forgetting, the Randall stamp for these knives have had, FL on the logo, since 1984, when the FL stamp mistake was made.

But on the larger models there are two (2) stamps that are in use for the stainless blades. I repeat, there are 2 stamps that are being used on the larger model stainless blades. One of these has the "FLA" mark and the other has the "FL" mark

It all depends on which stamp is picked up for that particular run of stainless blades. So, as you can see, these stainless "FLA" blades are not a rare item. Maybe the "FL" ones are. //// Rhett Stidham
