A far as I know its because we have things they don't have, like freedom and happiness. But then again no one really knows all those things that could be kept secret from us that may have pi--ed them off.
 
I was always told you fight fire with fire, so my response is to hose that guy down with 50cal tracer.

I never get these countries that burn the US or British flags. They are meant to be showing the world how bad we are but it is them doing the burning? I say let them live in their medieval countries, eventually a plague will wipe them out and we get their naturals resources in the end.

Reminds me of a joke I heard once...

When I was in the USMC one of the areas that we payed close attention to was the Middle East. I eventually became something of an expert on not only on the military aspects but learned alot about the culture. Spending 4 months over there helped along with having a practicing Muslim on our staff. My understanding is that they hate us not because of what we have but who their religous leaders tell them we are. Not all parts of the ME is as brainwashed as others but in areas like Afganistan where a theocratic regime controled all the education, radios. TVs etc the people were conditioned to view the West as a evil and a corruptive influence that is out to destry them adn their way of life.
I hate to use this comparrison but it mainly fits. Just like religion was used to control man during the dark ages and commit all types of atrocities so Islam is being interperted and twisted to by the Imans and clerics for their own purposes. According to my studies of Islam the Christians and Jews are also children of the book and are no infidels. Additionaly forced conversions are prohibited and other religious beliefs are to be tolerated. Even the word Jihad had been twisted from it's orginally meaning. Jihads literal translation means "to strive". In practice this means to better oneself mentally, economicly, religously, even physically. What it does not mean is to wontanly kill infidels. When translated as a Holy War it was meant for protecting one's country or to free the faithful from an opressive regime. My understanding is that Jewish or Chistian countries did not count as long as freedom of religion was practiced.
