Hi Gang,

I was just chipping a hole in the ice covering a small stream in my backyard with a Busse HD. The ice was less than 0.5" thick. After about six hits, I noticed that the black crickle-coat had completely flake off of both sides of the tip and the spine. Coincidentally, I had another knife (Benchmade) with me that has the flat, black finish. I performed the same experiment with it and the finish didn't even skuff.

I really expected the Busse coating to be more durable. What gives? Have any of you had similar experiences?

Dang, I wish my crinkle coat was like that. Mine won't come off even when I try to take it off.

Just media blast it and it will look better.

You obviously don't want to b seen with such an ugly knife, people will talk. I would be happy to take it off your hands. :D

but the real question is, who would win in a fight?

2 men, 2 red diapers- 1 Survivor!

No, no RF, the question is:

Who would win a fight, Chuck Norris, or Jack Bauer???

Thats a toughy...

Chuck Norris, hands down. I thought this was discussed in detail over on the LF forum

Sounds like a winner to me:
Avalow AKA Topless Chick (Sally Anne Newton). Yet another Eternal. The quintessential stoner chick, Avalow sings a lot, scores plenty of weed for Zed, spouts nonsensical platitudes, and walks around topless most of the time. And no, I'm not complaining one bit.

Look up digress in Websters and they direct you to the Busse forum for some reason!   :p

I'd contact the shop, it sounds like an issue with a bad coating job. I've had the same issues with gun coat, and other "bake on" type coatings. If the metal gets contaminated in any way, even a fingerprint, the coating wont take real good there. Problem is the only way to find out is under use. Edges are the worst place for coating wear, the first places to wear on my knives is the shoulders and grind lines.

ok now, back to your regularly scheduled digression.............

I'd hedge my bed on CobaltDiaperMan, he's just disturbing enough to throw He-Man off his game.

Bead Blast that sucker! Double Cut rules!

Better yet ask Jerry to bead blast it! Factory Double Cut is even better than ones done outside the shop. Go for it, the worst that can happen is he'll put another crinkle coating on it. Ya got one of a very few there bro, ya darn lucky to have her. There's guys that would love to have it, crinkle coat coming off or not. Good to hear that you're using it! :D

Send it in an we'll fix it. . . We have never heard of anything like this before. . . EVER!

Email me directly at jerry@bussecombat.com and I'll take care of it. . . Sorry for the trouble. . . You must have some killer ice where you are! Could be diamond encrusted!!!

Thanks,

Jerry
