Hey guys. I have (from a great person on these boards) a Benchmade knife that has titanium liners. It's also a liner lock.

My question... I'd like to flame ano the liners. I'm not sure which alloy (I assume 6AL4V) and I need to know, before I do it, if it will have a negative impact on the lock bar. If so, would it be safe to do but leave the bent part, that is, the part of the lock bar that's furthest from the lock face, alone?

The knife was a gift and it's going to my daughter that signed up for 6 years in the Air Force. As a side note, she just got her job, air traffic controler. :)

Thanks for any help/advice/suggestions/opinions.

I've heat anodized a few titanium items recently following the advice in this video.

You can heat titanium as many times as you want, it won't affect the lock bar. One thing you do have to be very careful of is the detent ball. If you heat the titanium too much, the detent ball can fall out.

I've watched that video a few times. :)

Great info, thank you. I'll report back after I'm done.
