Flash 2 blade play

Okay I picked up a used Sog Flash 2 today and only have one problem. There is noticeable up and down blade play and I have tightened up the pivot and lock bar screws. What else can I do to fix this? Take it completely apart and try to clean? If so are there any unexpected surprises to be expecting? Please help.

Is the lock button going all the way forward? Is the button an arc-lock, or straight line? I have very little experience with the arc-type lock button.
I don't advise taking the knife apart. You will probably lose the detent ball for the safety. Other parts are spring-loaded.

Had the same issue with mine new, and never did find a way to fix it... One of a couple reasons I took sog off of my list... Wish you the best of luck!!!

Yes the lock is going all the way forwards but if I tighten the lock bar screw up any more than I have it currently it only goes halfway. I was able to get the side to side play gone but I would rather have side to side than up and down. It scares me that the lock will fail at any moment.

Usually nothing you can do if a knife has vertical blade play. I'm sure that the lock won't fail you under normal use :)

I agree that I don't believe the lock will fail under normal use but you're probably not going to get rid of the blade play. I think it's pretty common with the Flash II. I have one in the door pocket of my car and the blade has noticeable play.

Arc lock or straight lock?
My straight locks have no play. If they did, I could fix it-but I don't suggest trying it unless you are willing to ruin your knife. I convert them to autos, also.

That's how the flash 2s are I don't like. Give the kershaw od2 a try. Its what the flash 2 should have been.
