i recently made a trip to my local knife shop where i purchased a buck nighthawk (awesome knife) and zytel handled flash 2 for a knife to play with . however i did not inspect the flash 2 before purchasing it and upon getting it home realised the s.a.t only propels the blade out halfway then it stops. i`m not amused. any suggestions? robbie roberson you are the expert on the flash 2 , is this normal behaviour? do i just need to open it a couple of hundred times? the aluminium handled flash 2 i bought did not have this problem at all. this zytel handled knife cost me $110 aussie dollars , so any suggestions?

Have a couple zytel flash=II's and have never experienced this, I would return and pick another.

I don't think thats normal, it's possible that it was over tightened in the factory and all you need to do is loosen it a bit.

i broke out my allen key set and loosened the screw on the blade pivot : this helped buy only when i hold the knife with the blade facing down and open it ; and it still doesnt fire 50% of the time
however i still class this knife as cheap enough not to worry about as i really bought it to use it its not one of my more pristine knives that i just keep in my colection . any opinions on the straight clip point bladed buck nighthawk?

I'd take it back, tell 'em about it,get their input, get a new knife. Think the grip on the Nighthawk is perfect, for me.It is a good tactical knife,a friend in the sandbox uses one. :)

Some have needed a "short" breaking in period, but what you're experiencing is not typical.

Send it back.

SIRGALANT, I'm no expert, just did a lot of experimenting with these models. This is not normal operation, especially since you loosened pivot. The only other thing I would try is one or two drops of light weight oil in pivot/spring area.

If this does not speed it up, then you really need to send it back. They will fix this thing perfect for you and then you will love it. No need to have a hot car that will only do half speed.

You might first try taking it back to the dealer and see if they will swap it for you, then they can send it to SOG as defective. Hope this helps. keep us posted.

Robbie Roberson ;)

i`m a knife collector ,and i just bought this thing to play with. $110 is bugger all for such a good knife . besides i never keep the receipts of any knife i buy. plus switchbaldes are illegal over here and the police see them as exactly that . i have my graphite flash 2 to as well (exceot that works fine) so `ill try your suggestions and if they don`t work i`ll just use it as a cutter.
