During the birth of the budget line of high quality, 01 steel, work knives from GEC, the first name used was "RED NECK" knives, a colorful name with lots of imagery associated, but Bill found out someone was already using the name "Red Neck", and quickly changed stream, coming up with "Farm and Field". This was a few years ago, and I haven't talked to anyone at GEC since, but I have been looking for a RED NECK branded knife for 5 years or so!
At last, here is one!!

If you have one, or know any more of the story, please post what you have!! All of us obsessive collectors want to know!!!:D

I have two , one orange and one black . I think the black is a transitional . The tang and pivot on the orange says redneck . Black handled tang is marked Great Eastern with redneck pivot

I really liked the Red Neck knives I saw when they were first released, kinda wish they could have kept the name. Nice catch Charlie.

As a mining engineer, I beleive the term red neck was used by the U.S. military when they took up arms against striking coal miners in Southern West Virginia. The miners wore red bandanas to signify which side they were on (there is a song by this title that describes the plight, "which side are you on").

Oh, your referring to the history of the knives, my fault.....

Cool, Paul, Jack and John!!!
Post pics please!!! Love to see those variations, Tx!!
The only other variation I know of is plain, unstamped pivots on an SFO for Mike Latham. Don't know what his tang said.

I agree 100% sitflyer; wish GEC coulda kept the name!

I had an orange delrin Red Neck. Kinda wish I still did. I do prefer the thinness of the Nifebrite, but the Red Neck had some charm (and value - ridiculous prices on eBay.

Finish your tale, Mr. Rockon!!:)
Anything about REDNECK enhances the conversation!!!

Charlie, I thought they did a later run with just the birds-eye pivots stamped Red Neck, but the tang stamps were F&F. Must have had left over bushings...... can anyone confirm this or am I imagining things.

Here's another Red Neck-

Nice story and pics, thank you. As a teenager, I drove a tractor on a farm. I often wore a backwards baseball cap and the old farmer would comment "tryin' not to be a redneck, huh".

I see Txjohn Txjohn answered my own question, and I wasn't imagining things..... transition knife/parts knife/lunch knife....how about, "cool knife". More pics pls.
