I'm not sure where I found this link:

Take an ordinary cheapie two AA battery flashlight, and supe it up to a surefire style performance with three 3 volt lithium camera batteries and a radio shack zenon bulb. Total cost, about $20.

I gave it a try, and am surprized how bright it is, and how far it projects.

The only problem with that mod is that the reflector won't hold up to the heat generated by extended runs. Use it in short bursts and you shouldn't run into any problems.

Here's a link to some info on the mod: Candlepowerforums.com

I made one too , using an Energizer flashlight from Target , what heat has been generated does not afect this flashlight body at all.

If the one you made did not hold up , try a different model to mod.
I would steer away from the dirt cheap , plastic lights for this mod.
