Flash lights, Krypton vs LED, New guy questions ???

For years my favorite light has been the Mini-Mag (the 2 AA version) with the krypton bulb. There has been a lot of talk on this forum about LED lights (which I know nothing about) and I wanted to get some more info.

What are the benfits of LED's in terms of light output, power use, lifetime? How do they compare to Halogen based lights?

I picked up a CMG infinity task light from
http://tripleaughtdesign.com It is a AA cell LED available in many colors. I love mine. Bulb lasts forever and battery is good for at least 41 hours. Of course alkaline AA is easy to find and cheap. I recommend them. JMO.
