I thought I would post some pics of my SOG Flash 2 Tiger striped. I cant believe how light weight this knife is. Lock up is very solid with no side to side or up and down movement. Opening speed can be lightning fast if adjusted correctly.
One thing I did not like was the very unnecessary safety lock tab. I decided to remove the safety bar completely. It will also lighten up the weight even more. This is a very easy procedure to do.... First open up the knife by removing all 5 alen hex screws. Gently pry the knife apart. You may need to use a small flat head screw driver to separate the blade end apart. Once apart you will see the safety bar to remove. Be careful to leave the frame pin in that the safety bar pivots on. (SEE PIC). Some older Flash 2 knifes may have a magnetic security sticker glued to the handle. Mine did not but you might as well remove it while you have the knife open. I also took some G-96 gun oil and applied to all moving surfaces. This is a rust inhibitor and makes the knifes action wicked fast. When putting the knife back together, dont over tighten the screws. The blade pivot screw needs to be adjusted to get the right opening action.(see tips below) Do not over tighten the screw next to the blade pivot screw. If it is over tightened the ARC blade lock release will be rough.

Tips to adjusting the blade for correct opening speed..... (It takes very little turning of the blade pivot screw to slow or speed up the opening action. What I do is open the knife half way holding the handle strait up and down. Now pull the blade down about 90 degrees or slightly lower. Let the blade go from this point and it should just barely open and lock. I have found this gives a fast opening speed from the closed position and removes almost all blade play.)

Note the tiger striping on the clip....Very cool.

Great pics

There is a really really tiny ball bearing that is used to stop the safety lock from accidental disengaging (on the flash 1 at least). If you lose it you will not be able to reinstall the lock. Keep that in mind. Also removing the blade like I did makes the whole process much harder.

Btw when I opened mine I found excessive wear around the pivot pin which was disappointing. How did yours look?

I didn't find any tiny bearings under the lock. I took it apart on a very clean desk. My Fii is still new so I didn't see any wear. Blade play was very tight with still being fast. I did take some time to fine tune the action. I put som G-96 gun oil on the internal parts and that in combination of opening and closing 100 times or more made the action lightning fast. I have noticed that blades with a coating on them need to be worked in to really get them fast.
