Thanks in advance for any help- it seems I can get just as good information on flashlights here as I can at CPF, since most of the time at CPF I end up wading through so much homebrew crap to get any relevant information.
Anyway, I just went to ZENGHOST's website www.zenghost.com (cool site, way cool name) , and noticed the hybrid Streamlight "twin task" series. Can anyone offer me any information on any of these models? I especailly like the smaller ones, like the 1L, or 3AA.
Also, I have long been interested in the ARC series of lights, like the AAA or AA models. Where can I find the latest versions of these, and are they still made in HA finishes? Are there any comparable lights out that are better than these? Thanks for your time.

The new Inova X1 and also the CMG Infinity are similar to the Arc AA. All can be found at www.tadgear.com, and www.1sks.com probably has them too.

I have the 2L TwinTask. It's a tough robust light. It's well built.

The clickthrough design doesn't do it for me. The switch alternates between the LED and the Xenon. So each time you turn it off in one mode, the next time you turn it on, it's in the other mode.

The lanyard is not really aftermarket friendly. It's threaded through a very small hole so you have to use the thin thin cord for lanyards.

The light only focuses the Xenon bulb and does so poorly. Nevertheless, the Xenon and LED beam are both good and useful as they are.

Overall it's a fair price for what you get. I do use it as my bedside tac-light but it's not a carry light for me.

I've held the threeAA design. I thought it a bit unwieldy. I'd have preferred to have them all in a side-by-side triangle arrangement. Makes a good baton the way it is I guess.

I second what Phatch said. I have the 2L also, and its a good light for the price but, the led is dimmer than my ARC LSL-P and the xenon is dimmer than any of my SF 2 cells and my Pelican M6. I also dislike the fact that the switch does not allow for momentary on with either mode, you have to push the switch all the way in until it clicks and then as you let up again, the beam actually comes on. I've grown very accustomed to momentary on switches from my other lights.

I have the 1L TT and for its purpose is an excellent choice the 3 LEDs give a satisfactory beam and the xenon provides adequate throw, its easy enough to keep spare batteries around for it.OFF TOPIC. I want to make an observation: You don't want to wade through a bunch of homebrew crap to find an answer. I wouldn't go to the CPF to ask a knife related question, why choose a knife forum to ask a specific light question? If it is because the answers are too technical for you, ask for them to translate into english. There are some very sharp people over there, but they assume that if you ask a question you want a qualified answer and give an extremely concise answer to the best of their knowledge. Its up to you to extract what you want to know about. The answers you are looking for are already posted in CPF

I currently own (other than Maglites and a Pelican Super Sabrelight) an ARC LSHP, an ARC AAA, a CMG Infinity Ultra and a Surefire E2e. They each do different things well, so it really depends on what you're looking for.

The ARC LSHP is the most balanced and useful, great hotspot, great sidespill flood, decent runtime, regulated beam, very small and HA type III finished (i.e. durable). It is, however, expensive.

The ARC AAA is second most useful purely because I have it with me almost 100% of the time.

The Surefire has great throw, is incredibly small, but has a short runtime and of course the incandescent can burn out.

Lots of folks like the Streamlight twintask series as being versatile and well made. Adequate in both led and incandescent mode but not really as good as a single design light (the nature of compromise).

For an all around light I'd recommend any 1W luxeon LED based model, I've heard decent things about the Streamlight 3AA luxeon (if you get a decent Luxeon, they're a bit hit or miss with those).

Agreed.

:)

I'm a flashaholic as well as a knife enthusiast. Yesm I will cross-post, but the depth of my analysis will be distinctly different based on the knowedge base of the population.

If the discussion wanders off-course or gets too technical, just ask nicely for it to go back on-topic, the nice folks ar CPF will tune their advice to suit everyone from Ph.D.s in EE to a kid who has yet to graduate hign-school.

Thanks a lot for all the helpful information. I definitely don't like the idea of a non-focused beam on any regular (bigger than keychain size) light. The Streamlight toggle system sounds awkward as well. I guess I was expecting Surefire quality. The lights look good in the pictures, though.

Hesnot,

I like the sound of that. Is there a website with pictures and prices of these?

Thanks again.

Thanks HesNot!

I am going to look for dealers now. I own a Streamlight 4AA (standard) light, and the beam is very focused, and very bright.
