Well I finally own a decent flashlight. It's the Maratac 9290 from County Comm. This is my first flashlight of its kind and when purchasing it I didn't give much thought to different ways to carry it. I don't plan on babying it but I want it to stay in good condition. Is a sheath needed? I'm worried about the lens getting scratched up by stuff in my pocket or sand that might get in their while sliding down a hill. If a sheath is a good idea does anyone have any recommendations? I would like something that can close on the top and go on a belt while not being too bulky to fit in a pants pocket. Thanks.

Mag pouch of some sort would be my first choice if you want it to close on the top. Shop around and you can find one that will fit it right
