I know that this is kind of off the topic of knives, but I am looking into purcahsing an edc flashlight. I know that some of you guys carry flashlights, or tactical lights as an everyday carry, so my question is which ones do you guys carry, and which do you think is the best as far as an edc one. Thanks. Which do you recommend for the under $100 range. Thanks.

My current EDC light is a Streamlight Twin task 2-L. Very good light (LED's and xenon) for the money.

I have carried a Surefire 6-P, and a E-2, and still carry the 6-P on occasion.

I guess it depends on what exactly you want your light to do for you, and how much money you want to spend. For me, I like having the LED's available when I don't need extremely bright light.

I suggest visiting the candlepower forums, and sifting thru the wealth of information there. here's a link:

I am still discovering the world of flashlights, but I would recommend the Surefire E2e. I've been EDCing it now for a few months and love it. It fits well in my pocket and puts out more light than my big Mag-lite. I also bought the KL1 head for it, but don't use it anymore as I like the BRIGHT and don't mind the battery use. I also have a Pelican M6, but it's too big to really carry in your pocket, IMO. I just received an Inova X5 tactical, and it fits well in the pocket, but is not nearly as bright as the E2e.

For really small lights everyone needs a photon microlight on their keychain, for <$15 and smaller than a mini Bic you can't go wrong.

I'm sure you'll get more ideas, but that's all the pocket lights I've experienced thus far. ;) :D

I carry an Arclight AAA. It is crap if you need to beat someone, but if you need to see in the dark, it's great. I've spent time illuminating my neighborhood and the neighborhood above 10,000'. My Arclight worked great.

I carry a Surefire E2e with TID. Awesome light! Worth every cent I paid. Even with the L4 and the A2 out, you can't beat the E2e for the price.

I used to also have an Arc AAA on my keychain, but it has been missing for a while now. :(

I have a Surefire E1, which is the same as the E2 previously mentioned except it only uses one battery. It casts a beam well over 100' long, and I can hide it completely in the palm of my hand. The only downside is that the runtime is low at about 20 mins, which is why I plan to look into a replacement LED head for it. Surefire has my flashlight business for the forseeable future, no mistake.

powersx2 - There have been a fair amount of flashlight threads over in the Gadgets and Gear forum. Check it out, there's a lot of interesting stuff.

May I suggest you take a peek at Wolf-Eyes flashlights. For that kind of money, you are getting a lot of light.

If you are bit more adventurous, go for the modified Pelican M6 with all the extras. It may bust your budget by 10 bucks but that's nothing compared to all the blinding light you will be getting.

In the under $100 range I'd probably go with an E2e and if possible a KL1 (LED) head. If you can go a little higher than $100, an L4. The rest of the lights mentioned previously are all good lights as well and will all get the job done.

You do want to follow CODE 3's advice and check out CPF--especially the buy/sell/trade forum (as well as BFC's Knife/Gadget Exchange forum). And as he mentioned, it has a lot to do with what you want to use it for (just like with knives). Also, as Nathan S mentioned, there are currently a few flashlight threads going on in the Gadgets and Gear forum where you can see some other lights. You also need to consider bulb type (incandescent or LED), and battery type (AAA, AA, CR123, etc.)

I bought and carry the SureFire G2Z for my EDC light accompanied by the Arc AAA. Great combo IMO. Ive had it for 6 months now and it looks almost like new because of the nitrolin body. It has the option of switching to the P61 120 lumen LA for a short runtime of 20 minutes. Also has a pyrex lens and LOTC, unlike the G2. I got the light for $63 shipped. I might get an E2e later on and keep the G2Z in a B.O.B. though. Just like knives, you cant have too many lights. :)

I whole-heartedly agree... I just got mine today and I've spent a few illuminating moments blinding everybody at work!:D Great little flashlight for quite a good price at our home store 1SKS.

Save up a little extra cash and go for an Surefire M6 surefires most powerfull light. And then spend 40.00 on a Inova X5. You'll be set.

You´ll find plenty of information in the Gadgets & Gear forum,

I carry a Pelikan L1 and/or an Innova keychain LED, (sorry forgot the model).

Dude, you just compared $50-100 lights that they were talking about with a $300+ light. WTF, over. Besides having a light that you'll never let leave your site, you pay up the a$$ in batteries every hour of use.

Have you ever handled an M6? It's a beast! I wouldn't EDC such a large light!

To me, EDC means it has to be LIGHT WEIGHT. I'm not going shooting, and when I need to see a street sign at 100ft, I'm in my car and can get something out of my glove box (usually a Surefire or Scorpion). But for EDC, there is nothing like the ARC AAA. I've had one around my neck for over a year now. Very light, relatively inexpensive, low cost battery, etc. $25 bucks from TAD gear and you're out the door with enough cash left over to buy a decent KNIFE!

ASP Sapphire around neck on a Cold Steel beaded chain.

Inova XM5T on non-dominant side in the supplied holster.

Surefire Z3 when I go out and about. Carried in a pocket of my choosing.

Check out the Pelican M6. A great light at a great price. I'll second the G2 recommendation. Streamlight makes some great lights at very good prices. The Scorpian is a great light--compact and easily pocketed but quite bright. Takes two lithiums. Also check out the new Twintasks by Streamlight. I have one that takes a single lithium that has both xeon and three LEDs. They also make one that takes two lithiums as well as AAs, C and D lights all with both regular bulbs and LED arrays.
