Looking to upgrade my edc light (Inova blt). For SAR ,SD, LEO and general trail use.I have been looking at the Fenix Tk10 over at new Graham. My limit is 100 $ including int.shipping.Is the Tk10 a good light for what I need ? Other suggestions are welcome.

Yes, it's a great light. You may also consider the SureFire L1 cree, which can be had on various forums for around $100. It's a single-cell light with good throw and a lower low level than the Tk10, which many may find useful.

The TK10 is a good light. It is too bright for comfortable reading unless you just use the spill, though.

i get fenix lites from the fenix store too, agree great folks, NGK is good folks too though.

the L1 cree is really a different kinda lite vs the TK10, the L1 is more a utility lite while the TK10 is a tac lite, just depends on what ya need it for.

I assume duty light doesn't mean tactical only. If you're inspecting a license or reading something in the car, 60 lumens is too much. Additionally, you have to twist the head, a two-handed operation, to get the high mode. The L1 Cree, however, has a 10-lumen low, much better for reading, and high can be activated by simply depressing the tailcap a bit farther, a one-handed operation.

I have both lights and the Fenix, though a great light, doesn't see nearly as much use. However, if you are going to be a Fenix, I throw my vote in for www.fenix-store.com , they've always taken great care of me.

Why not get a Fenix P2D/P3D CE? Multiple light levels, very bright, long life, and regulated. I will be getting a P2D CE shortly, after having read many reviews praising it highly.

The TK10 is only a little bit brighter than the P3D, but it's a lot bigger. The P3D will fit in a pants pocket, the TK10 will need a belt sheath or jacket pocket to carry. The TK10 would be fine for a duty belt, but for EDC the P3D is much more manageable to carry.

Have you considered one of the higher end inovas? I'm not real up to date on lights, but I think they're about the best balance between brightness and quality of construction for the money. I'd think that a T3 MP model would serve you perfectly and fall within your budget.

Have you considered a Fenix L2D Q5? 2 AAs instead of 2 CR123s, more settings, and almost as high of output.

I just purchased the TK10 from the fenix-store as well. Excellent people to deal with. I took it with me to a camping trip and that thing can really throw light. 60 lumens was bright enough but the high setting was insane. It is a great light. Excellent grip too. It will not be my last fenix but I say it would fit your needs pretty well.

I love my TK10. Constant 60Lumens for 10 hours - that thing will get you through a whole night and spit out 225Lumens if you want to.
But IMHO it's too big to edc. I carry it in my backpack as a backup for my less bright, compact edc lights.

Oh, those edc lights are a Nuwai QIII and a Peak Matterhorn (on my keychain). The Peak gets the most use.

For SAR ,SD, LEO and general trail use.

The Fenix TK10 is a very fine light -

slightly bigger than the SureFire 6P/G2 and Streamlight Scorpion -
but WAY brighter at 225 lumens almost 3.5X brighter
and on its lower level @ 60 lumens it runs for a claimed 10 hours which is about the same level of light and about 10x longer than those xenon/lithium lights.

I love my Inovas ,on 1 keychain 1 *1AA ,1BTL they are great value .I need a light that can throw a beam at least 50 feet the Inovas I have can't.

Olight T10 Cree Q5, or the Olight T20 Cree Q5.
I have them both, Awesome lights.

at one time i really liked inova lites but the fenix blows them away, brighter, cheaper, smaller, no comparison imho.

Then you don't have a T3 or bigger, because they are good for a lot more than 50 feet. I have an old style T3 and would say it has similar or better throw than a 3D cell mag light, while being brighter with a much nicer white light to it(and about 1/4 the size). The newer MP versions are supposed to be even better.

I know that the inovas don't have the lumen ratings that the fenix lights do, but they are assembled in the USA and built to take a beating. I think they offer a good package, better price and efficiency than surefire, and a more solid build than the majority of the import lights.

Probably one of the most overlooked really bright lights is the Streamlight TL-3. 211 lumens, this thing will blind you during the day! It's got a pretty good throw and is still broad. I like mine, and at $65 it's a good buy.
