Again. Nebie here, have learned that flashlights seem to be associated with knife dealers? Can anyone tell me why? And what the hell, can anyone tell me what a good flashlight would be? Im such a damn sucker!

Flashlights and knives are associated because people tend to EDC both. I'd say 4Sevens is a good brand and not too expensive. There are some more expensive brands like surefire but you can get similar performance from a 4sevens. I like the quark tactical series.

I personally like Fenix lights and 4seven's Quark Series. Quark mini 123 is absolutely stunningly small (around size of my thumb, just thicker) and produces around 180 lumens at max. You get Quark mini's under $40 and they have 10 year warranty.

Question lies what kinds of situation you're looking for flashlight: EDC, camping, emergency or general house use.

Knives, flashlights, guns and survival gear seem to go together, because each allows you to manipulate your environment. Thats why gun guys are often knife guys too, etc.

A good flashlight? Depends on if you want to carry it on your belt, in your car, or keep it next to your bed. For EDC, I like the Quark series of lights at 4sevens.com. I prefer the 2xAA flavor, but they come in various configurations.

This will get moved to the Gadgets & Gear forum.

I'm going to have to also throw in another vote for 4Sevens and their Quark series. Really good warranty, great beam with no artifacts (at least in my experience with the three I have owned), and different user modes.

For a light I usually EDC an ITP A3 along with a 4Sevens Quark AA R5 or Nitecore D10 SP, which I'll alternate.

Knife of choice with that has been either my Emerson Mini CQC-7 or Strider PT.

My first higher end light was a pellican. I got it because it was half the price of a sure fire, and was a little bit brighter. Great CS from Pellican as well. Then I moved on to a Surefire E2D, another awesome light, and so are the Streamlight brand lights as well.

I tend to think that as your tastes in knives go up, so does your taste in flashlights. (least that's what I'm telling my wife ;) )

because they cater to the gear queer.

they know when we go to their site to buy a knife, we will ineveitably look around and end up buying something else.
