flaslight

Don't like them as much as I like my Surefire E2DL. Brighter, better construction, better warranty, Made in USA. :)

But the Made in USA is killer.

I used to have a Nitecore EX10. Sold it to a friend who needed it more than me and I have not gotten around to replacing it. I really liked it but have not had reason to buy a new one yet. If I'd had the pocket clip then (they released them later) I might not have sold it. Then again my EDC is a $500 Ti custom so that's a different perspective.

Build quality is very good. Surefire is better, but also more expensive. Also, Surefire and Nitecore products don't have much overlap, besides the Extreme. The D10 and EX10 are smaller than the smallest production Surefire (E1B). I feel Nitecore is on par with Fenix, maybe slightly better. I highly recommend the Nitecore EX10.

If I can stop buying RAT knives long enough (fat chance!), I'll save for 500 eye popping lumens of Dominator®, at around $1 per lumen. <drool> <grunt> <drool> <grunt> <grunt> :p

I have the D10. In my opinion it's the best single AA cell out there, and with the output ramping, it is also really versatile. I have a lot of lights, including 6 Surefires, but I don't reflexively recommend them to everyone. Surefire isn't aimed at the consumer/mass market as they don't have anything that uses common alkaline cells (their "Icon" brand offshoot excluded). I love my SF lights (I EDC a E1B) but if you aren't a collector and want a light that just works, uses batteries available everywhere, is bright, and won't break the bank you can't go wrong with the D10.

edit - PS: Listen to Carrot too, he knows his flashlights. He's a regular on CPF.

The nitecore's are good,i have a ex10 a a defender infinity,good constuction good beam around $50.............

I have the Nitecore Defender Infinity and it's my favorite EDC. I do love Surefires and I'm still a Surefire guy all the way, but the reason I shifted to EDCing the Nitecore because of it's simple design, It has all the features that I needed, it's also built like tank, and the fact that it uses AA batteries. Also The price ain't that bad either, nowadays it's really hard in the pocket if you lose a $100+ edc light.

I have several flashlights that use the 123 battery, but I don't really like having to use them. Since I started carrying the Proton Pro most of my other lights are sitting around on shelves. The Proton is extremely bright for its size and since it takes one AA battery I can get a new battery no matter where I am when I'm in The World.

For a small, EDC type light I really like my EX10. Just got it last week. It throws a bunch of light on high power mode for such a little light, and the variable output helps conserve battery power (If you're not constantly playing with it). I'd recommend one.

I do like Surefires, but the adjustability and small size make the EX10 a much better light for EDC. I just don't need a big, 2-battery Surefire in my pocket all the time. There's a 6P in my backpack :D

Speaking of backpacking, my EX10 is going to get a good test in a couple weeks when I do some backpacking over spring break. We'll see how it holds up.

Hmmmmm... They don't seem so bad, pretty decent actually, with an ok price.
But personally I prefer Fenix, they beat Nitecores prices and give more lumens, and most of them are more compact as well.
I myself own the PD30 with the sick max output of 220 lumens :P

An excellent light and one of my favorites. Its a monster thrower and because of the optic used (not a reflector), it easily out-throws my 230+ lumen rated lights. Its a very small and thin light as well for being run on two CR123s.

You can also buy a cheapo Surefire 6P then just buy an aftermarket LED drop-in. Best ones out there are the Malkoffs. Awesome brightness, good battery life and made in the USA by a great guy. The M60W (235 of WARM lumens) is my favorite. http://www.malkoffdevices.com/shop2/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1_14&zenid=k3ektuqau0gm7evcmv48o5o158ps3mo2

My new favorite is however the Ra Clicky 140-Tactical. Has 4 programable levels (anywhere from .03 lumens to 140) and its a friggin tank! http://ralights.com/index.php?id=Clicky

I went through three Nitecore D10 R2s and returned them all due to buginess. Yes they run on an AA cell but for my uses rechargeable CR123s are much more advantageous. I have not found an AA light that I like yet.

Has any1 ever used the H30-Q5 Headlamp. If so can you tell me how you like it I want to pick 1 up but I don't want to buy a pice of crap.

I have the EX10 Q5 and the D10 R2. There both great lights that don't break the bank. I highly recommend both.

P.S. I also have the H30. I love mine.
