Ok I know its some pretty smart folks on here and I need a little info. First of all Im cheap real cheap. I have a 6 inch disc sander side mount that I use a lot. I want to build a flat disc sander CHEAP i might add. I dont need over a 6" disc all I make are folders.
Thanks for any info in advance.

I would make a 9" disk sander. This allows you to get the most use out of a sheet of sand paper and I wouldn't think this would increase the cost of your project by much.

If you watch the yard sales in your area you will probably be able to find one of the 4 x 36 inch belt, disk combos for around five bucks. Take the belt table and support off and make a table to mount the rest to so that the disk is just even with the top of the table. I would keep the six inch disk so that you can go to the automotive parts store and buy the CHEAP six inch DA disks used for refinishing cars. These disks don't last very long but they only cost about 15 or 20 cents apiece so it don't hurt much to change them frequently. And they come in a wide variety of grit sizes. I have some that are 4000 grit. So with a little shopping and some engineering you should end up with what you want for less than twenty bucks. If you are cheaper than that, then I SALUTE YOU O TIGHT ONE.:D :D
