Flat EDC items?

I've been carrying my pepper spray and flashlight more often now, but with them both being round neither are very comfortable in a pocket.

Does anybody make a flat (or semi flat) quality flashlight or pepper spray?

Starting with the flashlight, I switched from a CMG AA powered LED to a AAA ARC and that made quite a difference. It became the same size as a chapstick and almost as unnoticeable. The AA version was only comfortable next to my wallet, and was still a chunk.

How your jeans fit counts a lot too. Looser is better, up to a point.

Flatter lights can be had - the Inova keychain and others are great lights and very durable. Easy to carry on a dog tag chain, too, which stops the pocket poking.

This doesn't really answer the question, but is how I have approached the problem.

Flat can present its own problems, my wallet is a good example, it takes up more area and is uncomfortable for that whole area(not to mention the durabilty of a rigid object with a slim profile, I have destroyed phones). I have never liked full or bulging pockets and in the last 5 years have taken to wearing a belt to which I attach my cell phone and edc 42 (a batman style utility belt isn't quite my style either) my edc knife is now a neck knife. The only things in my pockets are a wallet (for now) and 3 keys attached to an arc aaa. If you need to carry spray you might consider pants with pockets on the thigh, Dockers makes some and you can't even tell there is a pocket there. Reguardless winter will be here soon and you will have many more carry options.

:D That brought a funny image to mind.

Get yourself a smaller light like tirod3 suggested , I never notice mine in my front pocket http://www.streamlight.com/keymate_info.htm
Second on pants , if your wearing comfortable pants you should'nt notice everything (uncomfortably) in your pockets every second your in them.
As far as pepper spray , they make smaller cannisters but they are only good for a squirt or two. Personally I would ditch the pepper spray.

Small size pepper spray.
Total length about 2 inches.
It's not flat, of course, but it's not noticeable unless you're wearing really tight pants. And if it's in a keychain case or a plastic outershell of any kind, take it out.

Well I do carry a photon clone LED keychain light, but when I go out at night I like to have my Fenix L2T with me. I guess I'll just have to deal.

Thanks guys.

Speaking of the Fenix.. I was looking at getting an L2T myself.. I noticed while on the Fenix site that there coming out with a Fenix E0. Its the same size as an Arc AAA (which is awsome itself). Its suppose to have a longer run time and be brighter than the Arc AAA. I read a post saying it would probably be 20 something. That might be good pocket carry to.

I'm also excited about the E0. I have an Arc AAA, which I really like, but Fenix has such consistent quality, it'll be interesting to see what they can do with an Arc-type light...

I first got into flashlights when a friend introduced me to the Photon years ago. I still have a lot of respect for the Photon and similar lights, but I'm getting away from button cell lights because my light collection has grown so large, it's easier for me to worry about AAA, AA, and CR123 than button cells...

I think I read it's supposed to be brighter than the Arc AAA with a shorter run time.

For a flat flashlight get one of those Photon II key-chain lights. The only way that I can think of to get a flat pepper-spray is to buy a normal round one, then flatten it out in a heavy vice.:D.:D.

For pepper spray, how about the ASP palm defender? It's a very narrow cylinder, and so tough that you don't have to worry about it banging around in your pockets.

I've got a Key Defender; I've never had to use it but it's sturdy and not all that heavy. Anyway, ASP has a "high-end" Palm Defender website here: www.pepperface.com
They've got some cool ones, although, admittedly some are targeted towards women. Still, the embellishment appeals to me the same way an embellished knife would.
