just wondering, on the thickness issue, how strong is fully flat ground 3/16" infi? specifically, im refering to the buffalo soldier, wich has a pretty keen edge...

though i dont plan on prying with it, were i to have to do so, could it take much of that kind of action?

As long as it's INFI, I wouldn't worry about it. I have beat the hell out of some knives in thinner stock and lesser steels without problem.

i dunnoooooooo.... if this puppy was 1/4", i would be willing to stab it with my full body weight into an object... but 3/16" (with the taper)... just lookin for opinions :D (thanks:) )

Ask Skunk. He took a SJ, jammed 1" into a doorjam and swung from it. Was Jerrys SJ at an earlier Blade or SHOT show. I can't remember if it was 3/16 or 1/4 tho. I doubt if he remembers either, everybody was drunk.

if it was 3/16, that would quell most of my confidence issues, but, the buffalo soldier does have a longer taper then the sj...

thats still pretty awesome though :D skunk is not a small man:rolleyes: :p :D

then again... the satin jack isnt exactly a small knife:cool:

Seth,

Good question. The Buffalo Soldiers are ground fairly thin and are ground full to the spine. The strength of INFI isn't really the question in a case like this as much as overall geometry. The reality is that mass can equal strength and in the case of the Buffalo Soldier there is far less mass than on a Satin Jack.

So, to answer your question more directly, the Buffalo Soldier will sustain more lateral stress than knives of similar geometry and of lesser steels. Whereas other steels will break, INFI will keep bending and then take a set before breaking. In other words, I wouldn't use it to pry doors open with, unless you need to ;). And rest assured that if you do unintentionally damage ANY Busse blade, you are covered by our warranty. No worries.

Nuke on!

well nuts. i guess im just going to HAVE to buy that tank buster now... to fulfill that one missing blade aspect, the edc prybar :D that knife... its lookin mighty.... MIGHTY fine:eek: :D .... i wish i had asked to handle it at the show...

(the length of the blades are correct, but the proportions are off due to different camera angles, and a slight lens distortion on the tank buster, making the handle curve into the backround (a little smaller then it should be))

(thanks for the reply jerry :) )
