I've come to the realization that most knives made these days, that don't cost a small fortune, seem to be hollow ground, which I'm not too fond of. After receiving a CRKT Partner yesterday from Guyon (which is now discontinued  ), I was wondering about other less expensive knives available with a full flat grind. I know the RAT's are flat ground, but I can't bring myself to like the handes. Anyone got any suggestions? I'm leaning heavily towards Bark River, but wanted to know the other options out there. Looking for something in the 4-5 inch range.

P.S. Don't tell my moras I'm looking for another grind, they may gang up and overwhelm me with numbers:D

Bark River Knives are convex ground not flat ground. They are also excellent knives.

Check out Grohmann knives out of Canada, they are sold by AG Russell too and a few others. But go to www.grohmannknives.com where they sell some flat ground models of their popular models, carbon or stainless: Survival knive, boat knife, and original pattern. I know they also offer kits, but I do not know if those come in a flat grind.

Do I get gunned out the club if I whisper the words "Cold Steel Master Hunter" ?
Owned them for years and they've never let me down. ;)

Ah, I remember now. For some reason, I'd got it into my head that they were flat ground, even though I've read countless times that they were convex.

Was thinking about them. Don't know if I'm allowed to mention retailers or not, but a certain internet site has the kits for 19.99. Can someone who has one let us know what the grind is?

P.S. I just went to AG Russels site to look around, and noticed the WoodsWalker. I think I'm gonna have a new knife soon. :)

I have no problems with CS, I'll look into it.

Are you looking for a folder or a fixed blade?

Fixed. I have a tendency to carry a folder every now and then, but quickly become annoyed with them. My current EDC is an Eriksson 510, Coast Knife, or Boker Arbolito (I know, hollow-ground and 440a, but it fits my hand like a glove).

Anyone know of a site that would explain hollow ground, full ground and convex edges to me?
