Does anyone know of a good production folding knife with a flat ground blade? The sharpest blade I own is the sheepsfoot on a 20-year-old Schrade Stockman. I'd love to have that type of edge on a single blade folder that would be suitable for hunting and field utility work. The blade doesn't have to be huge because I also carry a Tac Tool when off-road. Knife strength and sharpness are my major concerns.

If anyone has a recommendation, please let me know. Thank you for your time.

Cold Steel Trailguide. Two sizes, flat ground, high carbon steel, a little bit of recurve, great price. Great knife!

I knew that Cold Steel made great knives, but I sure didn't know they made one that would fit my needs as well as my budget. I'll certainly check out the Trail Guide. I appreciate the recommendation.

If you are looking for something less along the lines of a slipjoint, try a Spyderco Delica. Their lockback designs are time proven as is the VG-10 steel. You could also look into a Pro-Grip although it has a hollow grind.

Easy, an Opinel.

I've always found that the flat-ground blades on Wenger and Victorinox Swiss Army Knives cut really great.

And Schrade Old Timers are still flat-ground.

Good luck,
Allen.

You might want to check out the Victorinox Electrician:
It is a larger aluminum alox handle SAK, has an awl, a bottle-opener/standard screwdriver, a large flat-ground spear-tip blade, and a flat-ground sheepsfoot blade with a wire stripper.

This knife is very strong and comfortable to use--one of my favorites.

Good luck,
Allen.

I like the limited edition Jess Horn Spyderco flat ground with a white Micarta handle. I picked up 2 and stashed one.
