Is there a reason why the vast majority of folding knives are not flat ground? It would seem that more makers would offer more flat ground blades. They cut better most of the time, even though they may not be as strong in some instances. I personally would like to see more of them. Jeff

The Spyderco Military is flat ground and I am sure there are others but this is the one I own.

Great knife BTW!

Most factory knives are hollow ground because it is easier to grind both sides of the blade at once that way. Economics.

Other grinds sell well enough.

True, and strength really isn't folders strong point anyway.

I think that some of the hollow grinds and false-edges are put on knives to make them look more macho.

As a folder blade should be...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't a flat ground blade's edge geometry stronger and/or less suseptable to breakage/chipping than a hollow ground blade?
