Hello all,

wondering if you could help me locate production/custom folders with a particular style. I am looking for folders between 3-4" with straight angles on both the handle and blade. As in when folded, you only see the thumb stud of the blade. The blade should be a constant/near constant width.

One production example is the cold steel hatamoto. Gustavo Valdez (is he still making?), Ray Laconico and Mr. Oleg in the makers section have also had similar styled folders. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

^ Peter r is the man! Send him your design and i'm sure he can get something built for you.

Thanks for the input guys. I do like Peter r's designs a ton, but those are a bit big for me. Ill keep and eye out for similar folders with smaller blades, but I usually dont catch those deals :/. The A-100 is close, but not quite there. ANy other suggestions?

The small sebenza comes pretty close. Also take a look at John Greco knives on the auction site. He has one tht appears occassionally that is smaller, and clse to your dimensions. Its out now, but reappears regularly.

This is close but not as close as the Emerson A-100. They have a few variants with the scales and thus, the price:

If I'm reading your criteria correct, the Emerson A100 seems to meet your criteria perfectly. What is it that you don't like? Price? Liner lock? Just curious, the more info you provide, the more we can help. There is also a mini A100 if the original is too long.

I'll throw a few more I can think of...

Benchmade 530

Browning Ice Storm (made by Mcusta) had a straight handle version

KaBar used to produce the Dozier Thorn (the link is a random site I found via google), a smaller version of Bob's own custom model (sorry, couldn't find a link with pictures...).
I own the Kabar version and really like it, a very elegant folder for light use, the liner-spring functions as both the stop-pin and the lock, and the aluminum handle slabs are held on via a single pommel screw and the blade pivot screw - a VERY minimalist design. The thumbstud also functions as the stop-point for closing the blade. When closed, the back of the blade is flush with the handle except for two peaks near the blade choil which are characteristic of Dozier knives. Perhaps another user can post pictures of their own. The KaBar is no longer in production.

Its the spear point I think :( I would prefer a normal or tanto profile. Again, thanks for all the input.

Mika posted a beautiful picture of an Enzo birk in the EDC thread, and I really like the overall look.

Unfortunately I am having trouble finding a US dealer. Anyone know of any?

I don't know if he/they are a paying member of BF so moderators please delete this link if it is a violation - I've come across Ben's Backwoods in a number of threads, you could try there.

The Dozier Thorn has the Spear point but is an outstanding little EDC. i own two, black and plain. The D2 rusts very easy though. If you can find one for sale.....
