How do you fit a tapered tang knife to a handle. Assume that the the tang starts at 3/8 and is 4 inches long and terminates at 1/4 wide. Thickness of blade is 3/16. I would like to use a tang such as this for a crown stag handle. Thanks for your replies in advance.

Just grind the flat back of the scales at a angle to match the tang.Thicker at the but and tinner at the guard..Then epoxy and pin as normal....

You are correct L6..I was reading the question as a full tapered tang..
To answer the question just slot or drill your hole in the stag and fill it with epoxy and slide it up to the guard,Then after it dries drill a pin hole through the side that hits and goes through the tang.

Bruce,

that's the answer you should have given Whit in his post on "knife making problems"--sounds like it would work for women as well as a stick tang!--Dan;) ;) ;)
