Flaw in BK2 blade?

Hi,

I just stripped the paint off of my BK2 today, and I noticed what I thought was a rust spot. I tried to scrub it off with some baking soda, but it didn't come off. After taking a closer look, I'm not sure that it's a rust spot at all. It's a small blotch of squiggly brown lines, like an octopus. What do you think?

Looks like a flaw that has rusted. I'm no expert however. I would ask Ethan Becker personally for his opinion over in the Becker Forum.

Stuff like this is why I don't like painted blades. The paint can often cover up or hide flaws that the QA/QC boys at the manufacturer will miss and potentially allow your knife to fail unexpectedly, perhaps when you really need it.
