I picked up a beater today.It says 1060 Japan on one side with a rubber finger grooved handle. In spite of all the abuse, it still is a rock solid knife. Does anyone have an idea of age and type of steel?

Can't tell you age, but doing a quick search I found that everyplace I checked said that it was out of trusty old 440a. I'm keeping my eyes open for one with the camo handle.
