Picked up this little fella for $8 today with a broken main blade. No before photos, but it was pretty messy when I bought it and I wasn't sure how it would clean up. I'm suspect of it's authenticity now that it is a bit more polished. Only tang stamp is CASE XX, has neither number nor half stops. It took a good edge though and I think it may take over pencil sharpening duty next week.

Wow i have one exactly like that but the blades are worn down quite a bit more. Awesome find.

Thanks folks! Yes, I did have to reshape the main. It was missing 1/4 inch of material. Anyone have an opinion on whether or not this is genuine? The positive feedback has me thinking that it may be an actual Case now. But I really don't know how to date or identify their stamps. Anyway, thanks for the nice comments, I like the knife whether it's a collector or not.

Looks like a 22055 Equal End Jack, also called a 'cigar' jack, ~3-1/2" closed, if so. I have a 62055 in jigged bone (1965-1969 era). No half-stops on this pattern. The 22055 would be the same pattern in (smooth) black composition handles. The "CASE" over "XX" stamp is 1940-1964 era, and the lack of a pattern stamp might further narrow it down to 1940-1949. Case didn't start stamping blades with the pattern numbers until after 1949.

Nice find!

Holy mackerel! If you are correct, David and Jason, then this thing is already promoted from pencil sharpening duty to mortgage duty! Thanks guys. This came from the same guy I landed an EO Pritzlaff from for $15 a few weeks ago.

Nice find, looks like a "Real" Case to me I have a couple from the XX era with no model number stampings either.

I see no reason to doubt its authenticity. Looks like an honest XX era #055 to me. Nice find and nice job on the re-profiling:thumbup:

Dang! How about I just send you some money and you surprise me? No one around here ever has nice old stuff for sale. Nice find!

Thanks for all the input, people. I really appreciate everyone's opinion and wisdom here. Blaine-you can send me all the money you want! Not sure how wise an investment it would be, considering I had myself convinced this was a phony. You'd probably end up with a rusty Frost or RR with my general lack of knowledge! Thanks again all, I'll likely get rid of this thing, as I don't love it enough to off set it's perceived value.
