Found this nice Camillus 40 yesterday. Two little chips on the tips. Looks like someone tried to tighten some eyeglasses or something. It's been a long time since Iv'e found any oldi for sale that wasn't either way overpriced or a total wreck. I'll post up more pics when I clean it up. Anyone else with some old slick black Cammies post 'em up please.
Not bad for three bucks!

A few more pics after I cleaned it up. Honed out the little chips, and I need to get my feeler gages to get some gunk out from between the spring and liners.

Very nice.
Hopes of a find like that is why I can't drive by a yard sale/flea market, etc. without stopping to look.

Here's one:

I'll tell ya, fit and finish on these are great. blades line up with the springs in the open position, nice snap and great looking swedges. The congress is thinner than the peanut. I found that interesting. Looks like they used a high silver content on their ns back then.

There's an easier way. Invest in a sonic cleaner. You can get a good one for under $100 and even some for $30 or less. Mix a few drops of Dawn Diswashing Liquid in with the water. Run a couple or three cycles, rinse with warm water, blow dry with the air hose and lube. They work great on any handle material.

Nice find. I picked up this Ulster Pony Jack yesterday for a song at a flea market in Brooklyn.

Edges are a bit gnarled but still plenty of blade left. I've already taken off the plastic scales and am going to rescale it in Blood wood and polish up the blades.

I love this pattern, one of their best, at list to my taste. I had one once amongst other patterns of my Camillus collection, mine had brown bone, see third from left

New to the forums trying to learn how to navigate. Seen the camillus thread nice knives. I have a few myself

Nice knives guys. Thanks. This rough black seems to be fairly stable compared to Celluloid although it does shrink a bit. Doused it with CLP with a little fear it would attack the scales. It didn't, but I cleaned them afterward with dish soap. I was going to leave the bolsters dull but I rubbed them out with silver polish. Blades and brass will remain natural patina. I figured it will be in my pocket for a while.
