I found 3 pretty cool handmade knives at the Flea Market today. I picked up all 3 for $30.
They were in the bottom of a wooden crate that was full of old rusty folders and fixed blades from the 50's to the 70's.
This one looks like a funky pirate knife with a leather stacked handle and a brass guard. The handle is stout!
I couldn't put this one down once I picked it up. The handle made me laugh when I first saw it.
My 7 year old thought it was so cool that he asked me if he could have it when he grows up.
Being a Filipino Martial Art practicioner, I'm always drawn to these types of blades and the craftsmanship that
goes into the sheaths/scabbards.
This last one is 22.5". The handle has some old duct tape holding it together. It reminds me of of the Filipino Espada and
a few of the Itak Tagalog swords that I've held in the past. It was definetly used for a long time and the forge finish and
patina is just plain beautiful. This is going to be a fun project. I'm going to put a new handle on this one and bring it back from the dead.
