at first i thought someone had removed the handles from a carving knife and fork, and installed on this "shear".
but the shear says made in germany
and the sharpener says soligen germany
upon closer inspection they appear to be as made.
for butchering?

Have you used your google-fu on the shears yet? Never know what you might have came across...

1/2 of a carving set for formal dinner. Scissors for cutting poultry legs and perhaps skin.

Skinning blade/meat cutter blade.

nice pickups.

First knife is a commercial skinning knife, that's about 80%-90% wore out. Google "upswept skinner" for a look at the original shape.

The poultry shears and steel are part of a post WWII carving set. You're missing the fork and knife. Don't use the steel, it is too corse and nicked to do a proper job.

thanks guys
yeah those were my thoughts mostly
and since the skinner cost me $1 and the other two cost $3 for the pr
figured the carving set was worth the price just for the handles
will make some fine handles
for some other knives

Our local knife show was on the weekend. It is held in conjunction with a militaria show and the normal amount of related bric-a-brac. My win was a liquid fuel hiking stove. What I would call a "choofer" ( because they choof when running) I was too cheap to buy them from when we had them at work, really wanted the Seva123 but again too cheap. Picked one up which needs a new filler cap washer ( but is working quiet well with plummbers tape around the thread) for $20.
Pic to follow.

I went to a weekly indoor flea market sunday...I scored 2 nice sleeping bags for $5. One is a mummy bag rated for 0 degrees F.
Great buys. I think you could make some really nice knife handles outta those old shears.
