Found this for a measly $28 ($30 with tax). Finally I get a killer score!

It is in basically mint condition. The worst thing with it is the dust build up in the holes in the handle. No rust or discoloring. For it being a mere $30, I am half tempted to just carry it and use it. Getting comments every time I pull it out is priceless.

I would definitely use it, if it were mine. I'm a sucker for Spyderco.

Ive always wanted to try that lock, seemed quite interesting and its a shame spyderco doesnt still use it

Gotta love flea markets, estate and garage sales

I can understand why you might wanna use it too but considering what it's probably worth a collectable to someone why would you?

wow, plain edged one too. I had one of the early FS models with the same laser cut pattern. Watch that lock, it's pretty weak. I know, I know, we don't cut with the spines yadda yadda but still, be careful.

At first I was thinking "How the hell could they ever discontinue this!?" Then I got this one and cleaned the handle... dear god that thing builds up so much dust, dirt, and miscellaneous junk, and is basically impossible to clean.

I bought mine brand new (1994-95?) for around $40 IIRC, I think they're around $100+ with box and paper now. FYI, aside from the cool laser cut blade these weren't particularly well made. Mine had a pivot screw that always loosened up, the handle flexed under use and the lock wasn't up to snuff. very cool looking knife though, more of a collector piece IMHO.

The lock is pretty unsatisfying, but the blade is sharp, refines well, and the handle (while pretty thick) provides substantial grip. I really wish the re-released this knife as a lock back or liner lock. Spyderco 440C is more than EDC-worthy. The clip is also really cool, in that you don't need a tool to remove/move it.
