Is there any chance of the Fleamarket coming back? I really miss all the Fiddlebacks for sale in one place. Is there anything the group can do to abide by rules or follow regulations to get the thread active again?

There was a post about this when the Fleamarket went away. If I remember correctly, all sale have to be done through the Exchange. Like jmgruber jmgruber said, it would probably have to be a sub forum like Busse or CRK’s. I’m not sure what the process or criteria is to get that done.

It definitely would be helpful. Whenever I search in the exchange my results aren’t in order of date. Gotta do a lot of scrolling so I usually miss stuff.

If you look back it all went down in May. I wasn’t very active earlier his year so I missed a lot of it but I think Andy/ Fiddleback either left the forums for a few weeks or was suspended because of the rule infractions. I would venture to say there is no chance the Flea Market comes back. There were alot of rules being broken in several makers forums, not just FF, so the mods cracked down and want all sale through the exchange so it’s easier to monitor and enforce.

I agree. As I sell off some of my collection I find that Andy's knives get overlooked by many in the exchange forums (IMO). Posting sales on a Fiddleback specific forum was the way to go. emoney2277 emoney2277 is correct and I felt the pain of that crackdown a lot. I admit that I was one of many posting in the exchange and the FB forum flea market. I wasn't aware that was an issue as it had been done for years. They also shut down WAS and OKT sale forums too (a few other places I posted often). The flea mung was thrown out as well after I made a comment only about some knifes I was selling on the exchange forums. I do wish somehow we could get a more specific sale forum for Fiddlebacks and any of the makers that at one time was associated with Andy. I'm not sure they'll ever allow the flea market again on the FB forum. Bummer.

Who wants to ask a moderator how we can make this happen?
I think one of the issues is that the exchange is the only place where we can see oeoples' feedback scores, and is the only place where we can contribute to those feedback scores. And I don't they knew, or maybe didn't care with rules being rules, that most of the people posting in the flea market already know eachother and have a history with eachother.

I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I have read through every post you've made with Fiddleback in the title I've seen in the exchange, and anyone else's with it in the title as well, back last summer and autumn but no-one has had what I want and I'm only really interested in a couple of specific models in a couple of specific configurations.

I just stopped reading through them going into Christmas, because it wasn't the right time for me to be spending money on myself. And since Christmas I'm broke from Christmas for my daughters, son-in-law, and grandson... adult kid gifts, cookware sets and knife sets etc., are more expensive than childrens toys. Then missing a weeks pay with the flu right after Christmas sure didn't help, and so now I'm dead in the water for another month or two as far as personal purchases go.

But they may get looked over by the newer people to the forum, who weren't around in the early days to see Fiddleback Forge happen, and don't understand what it even is yet, or the effort and skill Andy puts into his knives. If I can manage to land one of the knives I want for the projects I have in mind, I'm going to see if I can do something about that lack of recognition.

I bought the midtech Kephart for that early last year, but that was a bad idea and didn't work. I should have put the review I did on the Esquire in the knife reviews and testing section, but I am so out of practice at all that, that I really didn't thing that through. But I have other ideas for the not so distant future, now that I have time to devote to such things again.

When I had the forum re-instated I asked about this in the mod section. Its not happening. There were instances of fraud in the sales in other areas. The response was to limit sales to the exchange and also the other exchange rules. I wish this wasn't the case, but it is.
