Anyone have any experience with this brand? They've been advertising a lot of carving tools in the magazines but now seem to be promoting their line of knives as well. I checked their website out and they have some really nice looking knives, but.... they're a bit pricey and they really skimp on the information (blade length, steel, etc.). So I was just wondering.

I have their fold-up carving knife in my Amazon Wish List. I suspect they use a soft-but-easy-to-sharpen steel. They include stropping compound and a strop with some of their knives. I haven't decided to pull the trigger yet.

Get yourself one of those Kevlar gloves if you get one.

I sharpened one for an ex's dad not too long ago, and my general impression (based on how it sharpened) was that it must be some kind of carbon steel. If I had to guess, I'd say 1085 or possibly 1095.

Their high prices likely come from having cornered a specific market. I didn't get the impression that they were particularly well-made tools - just functional. I'd liken them more to jeweler's tools than a collector's item, meaning their QC standards and amount of provided information about their products fall well short of what we knife nerds would want.

Will do:rolleyes:.

I see where Knife Center sells the model I was looking at, the Nomad. It's a little over 4" long and made of 1095 (good call Comeuppance). Strange how the vendor's able to provide more info than they are. Oh well.
