Has anyone else experienced a flickering with the Inova X-5? Mine has been doing something like this.
With the original set of batteries that were provided with the light--a pair of Sanyo 123 Lithiums-- the flashlight started flickering after I had used it for a little bit (perhaps 2 to 3 solid hrs). I noticed that if I turned the head more clockwise, the flashlight would stop flickering. But it kept getting worse. It got to the point that I would have to turn it so far clockwise that the head would begin to loosen. I thought maybe it was the batteries, being cheap Sanyos.
So I recently put in some fresh Duracells and noticed, after a while, that it is starting to do the same thing. It's like there might be a loose connection or something. But if the batteries are super fresh, the flashlight doesn't do this, it works perfectly. Do I need to get a lock-out tailcap version, or is this a common occurence brought on by batteries starting to drain? The problem is, the Inova is supposed to last 20 hrs for each set, so this sounds unacceptable.
Or is there something wrong with my light? As anyone heard of this happening?
If it is the latter, I will gladly buy another one, since this is the single greatest flashlight ever made. I use it everyday, and would be lost without it. I also have a Surefire E2, but it is sometimes just too bright, and the batteries only last 70 minutes.
