I have a knife with the thumb-button thing and a double lock before I can flick it out. If I flick it out I use the thumb button and the "cheap-knife" flicking motion. Is this okay to do or does it damage my knife?

Any motion applying more force than what is necessary to lock the blade will over time degrade the thumb button thing.

Well if I do not apply the motion it will only open half. If so I do instead apply motion it opens fully. So that won't damage my knife?

If you flick a knife open enough you will peen the stop pin and the lockup will get loose. How long that takes depends on the hardness of the components, on a cheap knife it won't take too long.

What is a "double lock" thing? You need to unlock two mechanisms before the knife opens or...?

And yes sort of lynx it has 1 click before it totally opens and to close it I need to push a safety thingy that I don't know how to exlain.

When he says button thing I believe he means the flipper.

Yes I did I couldn't think of the name. But now the real question. Does flicking open a knife inflict any damage to my knife?

It probably depends knife to knife. I have with several, for years, not a single problem.

Having said that, you are, essentially, slamming the blade with some force against the frame, and the locking mechanism is slamming into place as well.

Again, never had an issue after years of this, but it doesn't absolutely guarantee every knife everywhere never will.

Personal recommendation, you should be fine.
