Excuse my question-it probably has been discussed before, but so far I did not have much interest in a Mnandi, so I probably just ignored those threads. ;)

Anyways-what I would like to know is, can a Mnandi be flicked open, at all? In other words, would it be considered perfectly legal in NYC?

I`ve just recently became interested in picking one up, and have been wondering about this.

So far I "only" own a few Sebenzas and an Umnum, and I had to find out that these can indeed be flicked open. Meaning that they are technically "gravity knives" under NYC laws, and hence unlawful to carry there.

Truth being told, I only visit NYC every once in a while, but I was interested whether or not the Mnandi would be a safe bet to carry there.

It can be opened one handed, with a little practice. I doubt seriously it can be "flicked' open...

The NYC interpretation of "gravity knife" will catch up the Mnandi in its evil web. While it would be difficult to flick the blade open using the indentation, by holding the blade and snapping the handle away from it, an overzealous officer would classify it as illegal.

I know what you`re saying. Though the fact that it is rather small and not intimidating in its appearance, should help some. ;)

Thanks for the responses guys! :)

wow really?

I have difficulty opening the little mnandi one handed let alone trying to flick it open.

And I thought Canada's knife laws sucked. That is amazing.
