...... a hurry; some so fat, from sucking the blood from the local deer heard, earlier in the day, they could hardly fly. Trophy flies! In the knife shop and they wanted some of me. I have heard, their sucker tube is scooped on its end;they stick it under your skin and root around like a hog, getting comfortable, before starting to feed.:eek::mad:
Any one else suffering with these extra large deer flies? Thats what they are referred too around here. They are probably known by many names in different regions. Big, hungry and fearless; what ever they be called.

Try a Bounce dryer sheet hung from your belt or put one in the fresh air inlet of your shop, flies in general, don't like something in dryer sheets.
A tip from my sister in law.

The flies didn't stick around long after hanging a sheet in the intake duct.:thumbup:

Watch your back, Fred

I've heard the term 'horse flies' but I'm not sure I've ever seen one.

The Bounce is supposed to work with mosquitoes too.

Luckily, we are spared the biting flies (also called horse flies around here) in the immediate Lubbock area; however just a few miles away in the caprock areas they will chase you down and eat you alive. It's amazing how agile those little sons of guns are. You can job and a brisk pace and they will still manage to keep up and occasionally land on your leg or arm while jogging! Sounds like you've got some great BB gun or .22 targets on your hands out there, Fred. You know, those things can easily bit through clothing and even sometimes thin shoe material!

Some things on God's earth I just hate. Included in that list are mosquitos and biting flies.
