Flight Suit Pocket... and Becker

Hey folks,

I was wondering if ya'll might have any ideas to solve my problem. A standard USAF flight suit has a small pouch running down the inside of the left thy with a button closure at the top. What I really want is a small leather pouch/sheath that I can slip in there (and probably hold it in place somehow with the lanyard grommet). I could probably use the built-in snap for knife retention. My goal is to fit either a Remora or Buck 110 in there snuggly. Neither has a clip, which makes the sheath neccessary.

This isn't a very well formed question, but I am sitting here drawing ideas/brainstorming on a pad of paper and I was wondering what ya'll thought. Any ideas that might ease my experimentation? what about on using a Remora or Buck?

The pocket is about 8-9 inches long and 2-2.5 inches wide. You can see the snap at the top. That grommet is for tying a really long lanyard to your knife so if you drop it, you don't lose it. You can see, my knife is kinda just clipped on the top of the pocket.

There are lots of knives as good or better than a Buck 110 with a clip. Just do that. Why make it hard? I carry a folder in my pocket and fixed blade lashed to my calf with compression straps, or in a survival vest when flying over hostile terrain.

I keep my flight-suit knife (flat ground Spyderco Endura) clipped on the right thigh pocket of my flight suit as shown below. It's alot more comfortable to me that way.

If you want to though, just lash some 550 cord through the lanyard hole on the bk13's sheath, or through the belt loop on the 110 pouch. Maybe have a quicker access knife somewhere else too.

Make a leather sheath that has a female snap end on one side and a male end on the other to match up to the snaps on your pocket. So something leather or kydex with the same shape as your pocket there and a little flap that comes up and has what I mentioned before, snaps to match up to the ones already on your pocket.

A flat sheath with an 11 or 14 would fit in there fine. 14 would work better, with the loop you would have something easier to grab onto. Anything else I would do would require minor suit mods.

It's been a few years, I can't remember ever putting anything in that pocket that felt comfortable enough to leave it there. I only used the chest pockets and the lower leg pockets. I also second the Endura, or one of the other lightweight Spydercos.
