Flint Napping... I think

Hey Guys,
Wanted some information on flint napping and volcanic
glass. I've got five count em' five volcanoes on my western
horizion and this got me thinking about
the possibility of volcanic glass and the potential for
flint napping.
Here is the part where I freely admit I have no friggin'
clue about either flint napping or volcanic glass or if
there is a difference etc. I just thought it might
be fun to look into if I've got a handy source.
Any ideas on where to start with the napping? any ideas
on where I might actually find the materials needed.
Am I being a muffin head and overlooking something horribly
simple?
Someone send me some info or a link if you would.

Glass is the best stuff for knapping, better than flint. There's a ton of info on the web; run a search -- but you'll have to spell it "knapping" or you'll get the wrong websites.

By the way, knappers love to trade materials -- so when you get so good at it you want to try something more challenging than obsidian you can trade for it.
