I am on a cross country trip with my family and after visiting many national parks etc... i have become interested in flintknapping. I am just wondering if any of you know any good books to recommend to me to help me out. Thanks.

BTW im also interested in making bows and arrows. book recommendations for that would be appreciated.

"Outdoor Survival Skills" by Larry Dean Olsen has some parts about flint knapping and a quite big part about bow making, but you must notice that these are only parts in a complete survival book (anyway rest is also interesting).

Anyway this won't replace hand-on experience. It will only give you basics to be developped by your own work.

Many survival courses have a flintknapping and/or bow making course, but those are generally very expensive. try to find courses by a national park or historical society/museum, these might be cheaper, while sometimes equivalent.

primitve living, self-sufficiency, and survival skills by thomas elpel or naked into the wilderness primitve wilderness living & survival skills by jhon & geri mcpherson. The second one covers knapping better they also have videos that they sell but I have never watched them so I can not say how good they are.
